The most tranquil getaway to Cedarpeak in Cederberg, South Africa

I’m sitting writing this from one of the most tranquil places I’ve ever been in my life. There is not a single sound of other humans around, just the birds tweeting and wind gently blowing as I wrote this from the front porch, looking over into the expansive mountains and valley. Nature for days. Honestly, this getaway to Cedarpeak Mountain Cottages is exactly what the soul doctor ordered.

I’ve been wanting to come to Cederberg for a few years now, it’s about a 2.5 hour drive from Cape Town, known for its other-worldly landscapes and epic stargazing. It’s a special and remote place that truly feels like you’re getting away from it all.

I am so honoured to have been able to collaborate with Cedarpeak for my stay, a nature farm with a variety of accommodation offerings including cottages throughout the property and A-frame tents at the campsite (those were full but still on my bucket list! :)). I’m staying at Rooibos Cottage, which I feel like is the most remote of them all, we’re tucked away against the rocky outcrops away from the other buildings. The cottage is beautifully kitted out, even has a SMEG fridge (that’s when you know you’ve made it), all the dishes you need, two beds in one room and one in another, a huge balcony with table, chairs, hammock, and comfy couch. The cottage is self-catering and has wi-fi — everything you need for a little getaway!

But the best part is… the outdoor bath. The outdoor shower is a close second (if you know me you know this is one of my fave parts of safaris) but the outdoor bath is an absolute dream, you can’t get me outta that thing. regular indoor baths just will not suffice from now on.

The accommodations are surrounded by a network of trails, we’ve done the Peacock Trail and the Rooibos Trail to Hank’s Pool (pretty sure anyway — we just followed the blue dots!). the views are INCREDIBLE, this landscape is like nowhere I’ve ever been, the closest is Damaraland in Namibia. Its rock piles are so impressive, the fynbos vegetation is gorgeous, there are little streams trickling and rock pools and beautiful cascading waterfalls. It just feels like a dreamland, and we have it all to ourselves!

Now that I’ve gotten over my fear of driving on the other side of the road, it was easy to rent a car (ask me at @adventurelust.travel and I can book one for you!) and drive here. The last bit was a bit daunting as it is basically STRAIGHT UP the mountain with a steep cliff, but you know, easy does it!

I’m here with Nancy who is a dream adventure buddy, we have the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation and ya I’m just feeling really blessed and grateful 🥺 Thank you Cedarpeak!
